As one of ten ATDC companies selected, Layr will represent Atlanta's technology startup community while presenting to New York City-based investors.
Atlanta, Georgia — Layr announced today that it has been selected to participate in Georgia’s Advanced Technology Development Center 2017 Venture Showcase Roadtrip to New York City in December. The trip is co-hosted by Morris, Manning & Martin, Silicon Valley Bank, Venture Atlanta, the Metro Atlanta Chamber, and Aprio and is designed to showcase Georgia’s most promising high-growth technology companies to the outside investment community.
“As an insurtech startup, we’re really excited to have the opportunity to visit the insurance capital of the world and share how we’re leveraging technology to positively change the commercial insurance industry while helping American small businesses compete and thrive. Georgia’s ATDC has been a tremendous resource for us and this event is just another example of how they’re helping shine a spotlight on the great things happening in Atlanta and Georgia,” said Phillip Naples, founder and chief executive officer of Layr.
As one of 10 companies selected from a pool of applicants representing ATDC’s most innovative tech businesses, Layr is revolutionizing the commercial insurance industry through its cloud-based platform that allows underserved and neglected small businesses to purchase and manage the liability insurance they’re legally required to have entirely online while paying for it monthly on a credit card.
“The Venture Showcase Roadtrip introduces investors to a carefully curated group of companies to foster meaningful and targeted conversations and connections, as well as give the venture firms a sense of the caliber of technology startups in Georgia,” ATDC Assistant Director Jane McCracken said. “Our inaugural roadtrip to the West Coast earlier this year is a perfect example of the kinds of connections we facilitate,” McCracken added.
The Advanced Technology Development Center (ATDC), a program of the Georgia Institute of Technology, is the state of Georgia’s technology startup incubator. Founded in 1980 by the Georgia General Assembly which funds it each year, ATDC’s mission is to work with entrepreneurs in Georgia to help them learn, launch, scale, and succeed in the creation of viable, disruptive technology companies. Since its founding, ATDC has grown to become one of the longest running and most successful university-affiliated incubators in the United States, with its graduate startup companies raising $3 billion in investment financing and generating more than $12 billion in revenue in the state of Georgia.
Layr is an insurtech startup building better insurance. We use Artificial Intelligence (AI) to recommend and match companies with the insurance policies and coverage they need and accurately predict carrier pricing. Business owners complete an application completely online and instantly see a tailored quote that is paid monthly on a credit card. Layr was recently named to Atlanta Inno’s 20 Startups to Watch in 2020 list and the Technology Association of Georgia’s Top 10 Innovative Technology Companies 2020 list.
